Christopher Perrin began playing the trumpet at the age of 11 and over the next few years went on to win numerous competitions, both state and nationally. He has had an extensive and varied musical career, which included a twelve-year appointment to the State Orchestra of Victoria. Professional orchestras with which he has also performed include the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia Orchestra, Canberra Symphony Orchestra & Olympia Chamber Orchestra (USA). Many of his performances and soundtracks can still be heard on commercial CDs and DVDs.

As a teacher, he has held positions at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Lecturer in Trumpet at the Australian Institute of Music, and Head of Brass at the Orange Regional Conservatorium of Music. He has also been a performance examiner for brass at the University of Tasmania. Chris has a private studio and enjoys teaching beginners to advanced students and adult learners, preparing students for auditions, AMEB and HSC exams.

As a composer, Chris has works for trumpet in the AMEB syllabus, and performances of his works have been heard throughout Australia and internationally.
